Tax Increase on Horizon If Congress Doesn't Avert Fiscal Cliff

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- A major tax increase could be on the way if Congress doesn't act to avert the fiscal cliff.

That's according to a new analysis from the Tax Policy Center.

You could see an average tax increase of $35,000 per household.

That's because a record number of tax increase, due mostly to the expiration of temporary provisions, put in place since 2001 are set to take effect in January.

The range of average tax increases depends on your income level.

But the good news is few think Congress will let all the scheduled tax increases take effect.
