(KCEN) -- The holiday sales forecast is out.

The National Retail Federation predicts just over a four percent increase to about 586 billion dollars this holiday shopping season.

The numbers are neither naughty or nice, as analysts say the predicted increase is about average.

But major retailers are banking on strong numbers and are already planning to hire holiday workers.

Just yesterday, Macy's announced it will hire some 80,00 people for the holiday season.
