(KCEN) -- Now that the iPhone 5 buzz has quieted, there is a new Apple product rumor that could take over the spotlight.

A major Apple investor told Fortune Magazine that he's heard form multiple source that a smaller version of the iPad will soon be released.

He says the invitations to the unveiling of the near-eight-inch screen tablet will go out on October 10.

In that case, the smaller iPad could get stores in time for the Christmas shopping season, according to Fortune.

Apple is not giving any clues if there's truth to the rumors.
