Illegal Exporting Operation to Russia Centered in Houston

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Eleven members of a Russian military procurement network are now accused of illegally exporting micro-electronics from the U.S. to Russian military and intelligence agencies.

And the whole operation was reportedly centered in Houston.

Alexander Fishenko owns Arc Electronics in Houston.

Police say he pretended to make traffic lights, but was actually supplying the Russian Ministry of Defense with sophisticated electronics like radar and surveillance systems, weapon guidance systems and detonation triggers.

Fishenko and his accomplices have allegedly been conspiring and illegally exporting this cutting-edge technology to Russia since October of 2008.

Records also show that in 1998, Fishenko founded his Houston company and over a 10-year period shipped about 50-million dollars worth of material to Russia.
