(KCEN) -- A new method of genetic screening could help diagnose sick babies much more quickly.
It typically takes doctors six or more weeks to get results back from genetic testing on critically ill infants.
But using new software to identify the cause of the disease, researchers were able to get genetic results in only two days.
That can mean earlier treatment and even save lives.
And in cases where a child's condition is incurable, doctors could avoid further testing that could be painful.
