(KCEN) -- A new study reveals there are fewer abortions among women given access to free birth control.
Researchers offered women contraceptives like birth control pills or patches, or long acting methods like IUDs and implants.
These women had fewer unplanned pregnancies than the national rate and up to 78 percent fewer abortions.
Teen girls given free birth control had an annual birth rate more than five times lower than the U.S. rate for girls their age.
