Texas Couple Using Halloween For Political Statement

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Most people use Halloween as an excuse to put on costumes and eat candy.

But one Texas couple is using the holiday to make a political statement.

Melissa Cruson and her husband decided to include what they call a political and financial circus.

That's why the Vice President is portrayed in a clown outfit.

The President has a big red nose, and Mitt Romney, riding up front, is the guy they hope can fix the mess.

Cruson said, "It kind of took on that we would hit on every hot topic that was happening at that time of year. It has nothing to do with the office, the person that's in the office of the President. It has nothing to do with the color, anything like that. It's just the whole arena is just out of control."

Reaction has been more critical, though.

Some people have commented the President appears to be hanging.

But Cruson says he's just caught in the web.

They plan to keep their display up, despite the critics.
