(KCEN) -- Venezuela is seeing a familiar face in the presidential office.
Hugo Chavez has been re-elected for a third term in office.
The country's electoral council announced last night that Chavez won more than 54 percent of the vote.
His opponent, Herique Capriles, won 45 percent.
Large celebrations took place in downtown Caracas as Chavez supporters cheered and waved flags.
High turnout was reported with millions of Venezuelans casting their ballots.
Chavez has ruled Venezuela for nearly 14 years.
