Become a Stuntman or Cowboy at the HOT Fair and Rodeo

Posted: Updated:

When most of us think of the fair, we think of traditional things like eating a corn dog or riding the Ferris wheel. But there are some unconventional attractions that will turn you into a cowboy or a stunt man.

It's not a skill most of us learn as a kid. One partner gets the goat by the head, while the other aims for the legs. At today's goat roping contest, some like Halley Pierce got it on the first try, but there was a budding rivalry between her and her brother."He was like you might as well not even do it cause I'm gonna win and then I got in and I roped before him," says Pierce.

Organizers say fair-goers young and old can all get their shot at roping a goat. "If you've never had any experience they can help you try to get through it and let you participate. Now, whether you can make the shot or not, is up to you. it's kind of like shooting a basketball," says Wes Allison, with the HOT Fair and Rodeo.

Just next door is the movie stunt adventure. Stunt-man training is included so you don't hurt yourself. $20 gets you 4 jumps off the Movie Stunt Adventure, but you have to make it past every single level before you can make it all the way to the top.

For Derek Younger, who's actually a bull rider, there's never too much adrenaline. "It is very comparable to riding a bull, flying through the air, wondering what way is up. it's a lot like riding a bull right there", says Younger.

Two unconventional attractions that will give you a unique fair experience. The Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo runs through October 13th.
