(KCEN) -- Walmart and American Express are teaming up to offer a new prepaid money card.

The card is called Bluebird.

The companies say customers will have an alternative to checking accounts and debit cards.

It will also allow users to avoid increasing bank and ATM fees.

Customers can deposit funds on Bluebird in a number of ways, including direct deposit.

Users will also be able to send money to an account through a smartphone app.

Walmart originally rolled out Bluebird last spring at select store locations.

But next week it will hit thousands of Walmart stores and online.
