
BELTON, Texas – It was an offensive struggle Friday
afternoon as the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's men's soccer team
faced the University of Texas at Dallas, with the Cru taking a 4-3 win
over the Comets. The Cru improved to 7-3-1, 5-1-1 in American Southwest
Conference action while the Comets lost their first conference match,
dropping to 7-1-0 in ASC play and 8-4-0 overall.
Derek Geels put
two goals in the net for the Cru. Geels scored off a penalty kick at the
31:10 mark then scored off an assist from Isaiah Minick at the 59:04
mark. He also recorded an assist to Ben Hammonds at the 52:10 mark.
Chris Torres scored the other goal for the Cru off a pass from Tyler
Wicks. Michael Durrow kept the Comets in the game with a hat trick,
scoring two goals in the first half and one in the second.
The
Cru outshot the Comets 9-6 in the match. Torres and Geels both led the
Cru with two shots apiece. Brandon Stegmeyer played the whole game in
the net for the Cru, recording one save.
UMHB will return to action tomorrow with a 3 p.m. home kickoff against Ozarks.
