(KCEN) -- Salvage work on the capsized Costa Concordia is progressing slowly as the threat of winter weather looms.
Salvage work is still in the initial phase as teams try to stabilize the vessel and keep it from shifting down the rocky ledge where it rests.
Meanwhile lawyers are preparing to discuss evidence in the trial against the ship's captain that will resume Monday.
Prosecutors say he caused the Costa Concordia to run aground and capsize in January by bringing the cruise ship too close to shore.
He's accused of manslaughter and abandoning ship.
