Richardson, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell behind early and never recovered as the Cru fell to U.T.-Dallas 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Richardson. The loss drops UMHB to 16-5 overall and 9-4 in American Southwest Conference play. The Comets improve to 17-4 overall and 11-2 in the ASC with the victory.
UMHB dropped the first set 25-12 and UTD built on that momentum for a 25-12, 25-19, 25-20 victory. The Cru hit .139 as a team while the Comets posted a .316 hitting percentage. UTD also recorded eight service aces and had 10.0 team blocks compared to 5.0 for UMHB.
Tina Miller led the Cru with 11 kills and Sapphire Reid added 10 more. Shelby Prather had 21 assists and also led UMHB with 14 digs. Lauren Powell also reached double figures with 11 digs for the Cru.
Halea Williams topped UTD with 13 kills as three players reached double figures. Kayla Jordan recorded 36 assists and 11 digs and Christina Murphy had 13 digs and three service aces.
UMHB will now return home to close out ASC East Division play with three matches next week. The Cru will face U.T.-Tyler in a 7:00 PM start on Tuesday before welcoming East Texas Baptist and Mississippi College to the Mayborn Campus Center on Friday and Saturday.
