
BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team
found just enough offense in the second overtime against the University
of the Ozarks, winning the double-overtime match 2-1. The Lady Cru
improved to 6-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in American Southwest Conference
action while the Eagles fell to 1-13-0 overall and 1-8-0 in conference
play.
Ozark's Haley Gilliam put the Eagles on the board first
with an assist from Kristen Callahan at the 59:52 mark. Sarah Kathryn
Robinson put her shot in the net for the Cru to tie the game at 1-1 at
the 68:33 mark. Neither team was able to break the tie, forcing the game
into double overtime before Ashley Teague scored to secure the win 2-1
win for the Lady Cru.
The Lady Cru outshot the Eagles 24-6 in the
match, recording five corner kicks to Ozarks' 2. Teague led UMHB with
five shots, while Jordan Powers recorded four and Maizey Cardy and
Camryn Powell added three. Robinson recorded three saves while in goal
during the first half. Jasmine Austin played the second half and two
overtimes for the Cru, facing three shots and recording one save.
UMHB will return be on the road next week with a 1 p.m. match at Mississippi College on October 18th and a 1 p.m. kickoff at Louisiana College on October 20th.
