(KCEN) -- The death toll from an outbreak of a rare fungal meningitis continues to climb.  

Fifteen people have died and 197 others are infected across 13 states. 

Investigators have linked the outbreak to steroid shots for back pain. 

Health officials say 14-thousand people may have received the shots.

No contaminated vials were sent to Central Texas.
