
(KCEN) -- The Temple Police Department is investigating a crash that left a Gatesville man dead.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. last night at the intersection of Airport Road and Research Parkway in Temple. Witnesses said a red two-door Dodge car was traveling at "a high rate of speed" down Research when it failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a black Dodge pickup traveling west on Airport.
Temple police, members from Temple Fire and Rescue and Scott & White EMS all responded to the scene.
The Dodge pickup had two males and one female in it at the time and the red Dodge car had one male and one female.
Several occupants were ejected when the vehicles collided.
All five people in both cars were taken by EMS to Scott & White. The two males in the pickup suffered very serious injuries and the female in the pickup suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the red Dodge car, 26-year-old John Jarrett Colton Carter, was pronounced dead at Scott & White. The female passenger in the car had very serious injuries.
Investigators are considering that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
Investigation by the Temple Police Department Traffic Unit's Accident Reconstruction Team is ongoing.
