Texas Attorney General Defends Religious Banners at High School

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is standing up in defense of high school cheerleaders who want to use bible verses on banners at football games.

Abbot is intervening in a lawsuit the cheerleaders filed against the school district.

That's after they were told to stop using bible verses on banners because Freedom From Religion filed a complaint.

The atheist group argues that the religious messages violate the First Amendment rule against the government establishing a religion.
