
Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor
men's basketball team is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25
Preseason Poll. The Cru totaled nine points in the poll as the only
American Southwest Conference program mentioned in
the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25. MIT took 12 first-place votes and 594
total points to claim the top spot in the Preseason ranking. Virginia
Wesleyan is second with three first-place votes and 585 total points and
defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater
grabbed ten first-place votes and 543 total points to rank third. Two
of UMHB's opponents this season are also mentioned in the poll.
Whitworth is ranked 14th with 210 points and Trinity University received votes totaling 49 points.
UMHB went 25-3 overall and posted a 20-1 mark in
ASC play last season. The Cru posted the best regular season record in
the history of the program before falling in the Semifinals of the ASC
Championship Tournament. UMHB then fell to
Trinity 68-66 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III National
Championships. The Cru returns seven letter winners and three starters
from that team this season. The UMHB men will open the 2012-2013 season
with a home game against Southwestern University
on November 20th.
The D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll is voted on a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country. The UMHB men were ranked 18th in the nation in the final D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll of the season last year.
