(KCEN) -- The third day of pre-trial hearings were held yesterday for alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators in Guantanamo Bay.
Mohammed and the other alleged conspirators are being tried as unlawful belligerents not protected by the combat immunity granted to soldiers.
Mohammed's lawyer said the government must prove that he is an unlawful enemy belligerent and not a prisoner of war.
Under the Geneva Conventions, one of the things that separate soldiers from unlawful combatants is wearing a uniform.
Mohammed wore a camouflage vest over his white tunic during yesterday's proceedings.
Prosecutors said the vest was a mockery of the military tribunals.
But a judge rejected their motion to have the vest removed.
