Police In Louisiana Investigating Reports of Woman Set on Fire

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Police in Louisiana are investigating reports that a woman was attacked by a group of men, set on fire and critically burned.

The woman made two calls to 9-1-1 Sunday night saying she had been severely burned by three men wearing white hoodies.

Sharmeka Moffitt is now in critical condition at a Shreveport hospital.

Police said they found racial slurs written on her car, including the letters KKK.

Rev. Paul Stubbs, a family friend of Moffitt, said, "I ask the community, let us stand together in unity and become one. Let us pray. Let us not act out in violence."

Local and state officials are being assisted by the FBI in the investigation.
