Temple Police Department Now Offering Online Form for Filing Reports

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- The city of Temple is now allowing people to file police reports online.

They want people to have the best and most convenient access to police services so now reports can be filed on the Internet.

To file a report, a person just needs to go to www.templetx.gov/reportacrime and fill out the form available.

There are some criteria for online reporting though. It cannot be an emergency situation. The incident being reported has to have happened within the Temple city limits. There must be no known suspects. The crime cannot be in progress.

The first step on the form is to pick the offense from a list. Then a person will enter identifying information and a brief description of the offense.

When the form is complete, the person reporting a crime will receive a report number and can also print a copy of their offense.

Right now, reports on the following offenses can be filed:

  • Burglary of a coin operated machine
  • Criminal Mischief with an estimate damage less than $1500.00
  • Debit/Credit Card Abuse
  • Forgery
  • Graffiti with an estimated damage of less than $1500.00
  • Lost Property
  • Reckless Damage
  • Theft with a property value under $1500.00
  • Theft of Services with a loss value under $1500.00

If anyone would like to file a report with an officer instead of online, that is still an option. Just call 254-298-5500.
