
Spring Branch, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team improved by 14 strokes on the final day and the Cru moved up to a third place finish at the Alamo City Classic Tuesday. The UMHB men posted a final round 293 for a 307-293=600 team score to finish 25 shots behind team champion U.T.-Tyler's 295-280=575 total. Second place went to Southwestern University at 305-293=598, two shots ahead of the Cru. Tournament host Trinity University finished fourth after shooting 303-306=609, Texas Lutheran University was fifth at 308-306=614, Schreiner University's 304-313=617 was good for sixth place, Hardin-Simmons University finished seventh with a 313-306=619 and Concordia Texas rounded out the field with a 320-305=625 team total.
Pablo Mena Medrano posted the low individual finish for the UMHB men after carding a 78-70=148. Mena Medrano finished in tenth place individually. Robby Schimmels tied for 12th place after firing a 77-73=150 and Justin Judkins (76-76), Matt Day (76-76) and Stayton Lindeman (78-74) all 152's to tie for 14th place. U.T.-Tyler's John Dukes won the individual title after posting a 71-66=137.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 6,838-yard layout at River Crossing Golf Course in Spring Branch. This tournament also closes out the fall tournament schedule for the UMHB men's golf team.
