Emails About Benghazi Attack Released

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- There is new information about last month's deadly assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

According to emails obtained by several news agencies, the White House, State Department and the FBI were emailed that a militant Islamic group had claimed credit.

U.S. diplomatic forces were also in communication with Washington while the attack was still going on.

The emails raise more questions about the Obama administration's weeks-long delay in actually calling the Benghazi attack an act by terrorists.

Today Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized those emails saying they lack the full perspective that investigations are meant to bring out.

She said, "Look, I have said it and I will say it one more time, no one wants to find out what happened more than I do. We are holding ourselves accountable to the American people because not only they but our brave diplomats and development experts serving in dangerous places around the world deserve no less."

The attack left U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead.
