(KCEN) -- There's a monkey that's been on the run in Tampa Bay for more than three years and during that time he's developed quite a following.
But the little guy's days of roaming around town are now over.
The male rhesus macaque, weighing about 45 pounds, has been running from officials for three years.
Trapper Vernon Yates has even received death threats over his attempts to capture the monkey.
The search intensified two weeks ago after the macaque attacked a Saint Petersburg woman.
But on Tuesday the hunt ended.
Veterinarian Dr. Don Woodman said, "We first saw him, and I had a dart pistol. And it was too far for the range, so I got a dart rifle and had a good shot and managed to hit him."
The monkey will be tested for viruses and given a full physical, then officials can look for a safe home for the little guy.
