(KCEN) -- The Bell County Sheriff's Office has started their own sex offender program called Offender Watch that allows them to share sex offender information with other Offender Watch programs across the nation.
This program will help them track and register sex offenders in the area.
Offender Watch is used by more than 1,000 jurisdictions in 30 states. It provides the community with information on sex offenders.
A link to the program is on the Bell County Sheriff's Office's website. It offers an easy way for citizens to search for local sex offenders and sends out notifications to people living in close proximity to offender addresses.
In addition to this, people can confidentially register an address to be monitored by the agency. If a sex offender registers within a person's chosen radius from the address they entered, they will be alerted.
The Bell County Sheriff's Office used crime prevention funds to pay for the program.
