108-Year-Old Woman Votes For First Time

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Many young voters will be voting for the first time in the upcoming election, but one woman is voting for the first time as well, at 108-years-old.

For decades, 108-year-old Joanna Jenkins of Beaufort County, South Carolina has watched elections come and go, but someone is standing out to her about this election and she is using her right to vote for the very first time.

Since Jenkins can't read or write and does not have a state issued ID, her family didn't think she would be eligible to vote, but thanks to help from their family doctor and the Beaufort County Board of Elections, she's now registered as an absentee voter.

And who does she say gets her vote? President Obama.
