Animal Shelters Hoping Halloween May Encourage People to Adopt Black Cats

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- A black cat is known as a symbol of Halloween and because of that, some animal shelters will not let people adopt black cats at this time of year. But that may change.

Black cats are usually not too popular, so this year some animal shelters are taking advantage of their Halloween popularity to help them get a new home.

Shelters are dressing them up with pretty collars and even scarves in order to get these critters noticed and adopted.

So with Halloween only days away, it is the season for a special push on getting some black cats and even dogs a new, loving home.

If you or someone would like to adopt a pet you can contact the Waco Humane Society at 254-754-1454
