(KCEN) -- She's had several hit records and won even more awards, but the latest distinction for Lady Gaga may be the most unique.
Researchers at Duke University say they've named a group of ferns after her because they look a lot like some of Gaga's infamous costumes.
The 19 new species also have a distinct DNA sequence that spells GAGA.
Two of the ferns are new to science, Gaga Germanotta from Costa Rica and Gaga Monstraparva from Mexico.
The leader of the study says that they named the ferns after the singer because of her, "fervent defense of equality and individual expression."
She says that the ferns themselves gave them even more reasons why the names were a good choice.
