Two 18 Wheelers Collide, Shut Down Highway 95 Near Holland

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Highway 95 remains closed after two semis collided on the road near Holland this morning.

One of the semis was carrying a load and the other was not.

The truck that was not carrying a load appears to have been driving in the wrong lane of the two-lane highway. The other driver tried to swerve off the road to avoid a collision, but was not able to make it out of the way. The two vehicles crashed into each other, continued for a little bit and then landed about 125 yards away from each other.

The truck without a load burst into flames because of the diesel it had in it. Hazmat was called to the scene to help with that cleanup.

Both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles and both were walking around when first responders arrived. The driver of the semi that was carrying a load was taken to Scott & White with non life-threatening injuries. The other driver was OK.

TxDoT is working to clear the debris on the road. They expect Highway 95 to remain closed until after lunch. TxDoT is also investigating the accident.
