(KCEN) -- One woman is dead and three others were injured in Houston after a man ran a stop sign and smashed his car into an outdoor Halloween party.

It appears the driver blew through a stop sign and was going so fast he jumped a steep ditch into the backyard, killing a 38-year-old woman.

He then ran off.

Investigators traced down the son of the car's owner, who said he lent the car to a friend.

That friend matches the description family members gave to deputies.

Police believe alcohol was involved.
