(KCEN) -- A man is now behind bars after firing a weapon and injuring one person at a car wash in Copperas Cove the night of October 23.
Around 10:25 p.m. on October 23, Copperas Cove police responded to shots being fired in the 600 block of North 1st Street.
Several people were at a car wash at 602 North 1st Street when four other people came up and confronted them. An argument broke out and the four people left but one soon came back with a handgun. The victims at the car wash fled the area and tried to leave in a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra.
While they were fleeing, the suspect, now identified as 22-year-old Dante LeRoy Cross of Copperas Cove, began firing the weapon at the vehicle.
There were seven victims and only one received a minor injury when a bullet fragment grazed the back of the victim's neck. The victim did not require medical assistance.
Seven warrants of arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were issued on October 24.
On October 29 around 3:21 p.m., Cross was found in the 1000 block of Randa Street and arrested. He was booked into the Copperas Cove Police Department jail.
Cross was arraigned on October 30 and received a $100,000 surety bond for each charge. He was later transported to the Coryell County Jail.
