October Jobs Report Shows Slight Rise in Unemployment

(KCEN) -- The highly anticipated October jobs report brought mixed news today.

Newly-released numbers from the Labor Department show the unemployment rate in October was 7.9 percent.

It was 7.8 percent in September.

The report also shows the economy added 171,000 jobs last month.

More than 40 percent of those unemployed have been out of work for more than six months.
