Rangers Make 2013 Qualifying Offer To Josh Hamilton

Posted: Updated:

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has made a qualifying 2013 contract offer to free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton.

Hamilton has until Friday, November 9, at 4:00 p.m. CST to accept or decline the offer.  If he accepts the offer, he is considered a signed player for 2013.  If he declines the offer, the Rangers will gain an additional selection after the first round in the 2013 Draft if he should sign with another team.

Texas can make a qualifying offer to any XXB Type Free Agent that was with the Rangers for the entire 2012 season.

The team did not make qualifying offers to six other eligible free agents: catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli, and right-handed pitchers Mike Adams, Scott Feldman, Mark Lowe, Yoshinori Tateyama, and Koji Uehara.  The Rangers can still negotiate with these six free agents, but would not receive any draft pick compensation if those players sign with another club.
