(KCEN) -- One person in Belton is dead after being hit by a truck while crossing the street.

Police say, just before 5:00 this morning, a pedestrian was hit by a pick-up truck on the 3500 block of North Main.

The person was walking in the southbound lane of the road when they struck.

The pedestrian died at the scene, but their identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
