(KCEN) -- New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the dangling crane boom that has captured everyone's attention for days is now fastened to the luxury high-rise building in midtown Manhattan.
The crane collapsed almost a week ago during the high winds that came along with the approaching superstorm Sandy.
The crane was inspected by engineers during the storm who had to climb the 74 stories of the building.
Officials tried to reopen 57th Street last night but because of safety concerns, some buildings nearby had to be evacuated, including a large hotel.
