(KCEN) -- Parnell McNamara is McLennan County's new sheriff.
The Republican candidate won with 67 percent of the vote last night.
McNamara promised to crack down on criminals once elected.
During a speech at his watch party, McNamara appointed retired Texas Ranger Matt Cawthon as his Chief Deputy.
McNamara was up against Democratic candidate Willie Tompkins and Libertarian candidate Charles Hutyra.
Both Hutyra and Tompkins focused their platforms around the budget and jail situation in McLennan County.
