(KCEN) -- In Copperas Cove a 4.7 million dollar bond was on the ballot to relocate fire station number 2 and buy two new trucks.
Residents voted in support of the measure, 69 percent to 31 percent.
There are why the city says the bond is so important.
Moving its station closer to newly populated areas is the first of many steps toward lowering insurance premiums for homeowners.
It's also going to increase response times and safety in a city that has grown by 3,000 in the last ten years.
There is more that needs to happen to get those insurance rates down.
The city would need to build a fourth fire station through another future bond.
