City of Waco Signs Deal With Humane Society

(KCEN) -- The Waco City Council voted on and signed an agreement with the Humane Society on Monday.

The city is will take over the shelter at the end of November and will maintain the shelter.

Any adoptions will have to be up to Humane Society. The Society will need to raise fund for any adoptions.

And if after 30 days an animal is still there, they will most likely be euthanized.

The contract is for one year , with option of renewing for two years. The Humane Society will run the front desk.

The city will pay for a few staffers that will vaccinate pets. The budget that the city will administer will be $300,000.
