(KCEN) -- Breaking news came from the Pentagon today that could affect our military.
There is word that two Iranian fighter jets fired on a U.S. drone in the Persian Gulf last week.
The U.S. Air Force predator drone was unarmed and in international airspace east of Kuwait, performing surveillance.
The aircraft was not hit.
But the incident raises fresh worries within the Obama administration about Iranian military aggression in the crucial gulf oil shipping lanes.
The Obama administration did not release details of the incident today.
But three senior officials who did not want to be named confirmed what happened.
There is no word on why the information was not shared with the American public before the presidential election.
