(KCEN) -- President Obama says he's committed to working with Congress to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff at the end of the year.
The President will meet with leaders from both parties at the White House next week.
He says he's open to compromise and new ideas, but insists on more taxes for people earning more than $250,000 a year.
Obama said, "As I said on Tuesday night, the American people voted for action, not politics as usual. You elected us to focus on your jobs, not ours."
The President says if nothing is done by December 31, Taxes will go up for all Americans.
