Temple Police Seize Nearly a Million Dollars Worth of Cocaine

(KCEN) -- The Temple Police Department seized nearly a million dollars worth of cocaine during a routine traffic stop yesterday.

Around 10:30 a.m. and officer stopped a vehicle in the 5300 block of South Interstate 35. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, 42-year-old Maria Isabel Sanchez of Eagle Pass, was transporting a controlled substance.

Agents with the Temple Police Department's Special Investigations Unit searched the vehicle and found 10 kilograms of cocaine. The street value is estimated to be $985,000.

A federal compliant was issued, charging Sanchez with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Sanchez was transported to a federal detention facility in Waco this morning.
