UPDATE: The man killed while trying to cross I-35 in Waco has now been identified.
It happened Sunday night on the Southbound 800 hundred block of I-35. 66 year old Richard Grates of Waco was hit by an SUV and was killed instantly.
The driver of the SUV and a passenger were not hurt.

(KCEN) -- I-35 is now open Tuesday morning after it was closed last night when a man walking on foot was hit by a car.
It happened just before 9 Sunday night on the southbound side of the Interstate near 8th Street.
Police said a 66-year-old man from Waco was hit while he was trying to cross the highway on foot.
The driver of the car that hit him is not being charged.
The identity of the man has not yet been released.
