(KCEN) -- A Temple man was killed when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree early this morning.
Forty-nine-year-old Vernon Keith Gibson was driving east on FM 93 around 1:20 a.m. when his dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck left the north side of the highway and struck a tree.
Officers from the Temple Police Department, Temple Fire and Rescue members and Scott & White EMS responded to the accident, which happened in the 5600 block of FM 93.
Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other people in the vehicle when the accident happened.
The Temple Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating to determine what caused the crash.
