(KCEN) -- One man was taken to Hillcrest Hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in an accident on the access road of I-35 this afternoon.
The man's car was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
Witnesses say the car was weaving in and out of traffic on the southbound I-35 access road near the Highway 6 interchange just before it went off the road and became impaled on a guard rail.
The driver lost control of his Nissan Altima and veered off the road onto the guard rail. He was not wearing his seatbelt but managed to remain in the vehicle during the crash.
The cause of the accident is unknown.
Crews will have to cut the car off of the guard rail in order to remove it and clean the scene.
