(KCEN) -- We have an update on the deadly meningitis outbreak that killed 32 people across the nation.
In the aftermath of that outbreak a Massachusetts official wants to change the state's corporate manslaughter law.
The current maximum penalty is $1,000.
But now Massachusetts' attorney general is pushing for legislation to increase the penalty to $250,000.
The state's current statute for corporate manslaughter penalties was enacted in 1819.
An investigation is continuing into the deadly meningitis outbreak but no charges have been filed as of yet.
