UPDATE (KCEN) -- The jury is now deliberating the sentence of Kirt Yarbrough, who was found guilty of sexual assault earlier today.

(KCEN) -- Kirt Yarbrough, the former police officer accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager, has been found guilty of sexual assault.
The state and defense both gave their closing arguments in court this morning.
At 10:40 the jury left for deliberation. It took them roughly 40 minutes to decide on a verdict.
They returned to the courtroom at 11:20 and had found Yarbrough guilty of sexual assault.
The punishment phase of the trial will begin at 1 p.m. today.
