(KCEN) -- A two-year-old girl from Killeen is in critical condition after falling into a backyard pool.
Killeen police officers received a call at 9:06 this morning about a child who had drowned in a pool.
The mother and the child were in the backyard at the home in the 3500 block of Solomon Drive. The mother went inside for a short period of time and when she came back outside, the child was in the water.
That's when the mother immediately retrieved her daughter from the pool and began calling for help.
A man jogging by at the time heard her cries and responded. He began giving the girl CPR until officers and paramedics arrived.
Emergency officials arrived and took the child to the Killeen Civic and Conference Center and she was airlifted to Scott & White's Pediatric Hospital from there.
The girl is in critical condition at this time.
