(KCEN) -- There is sad news for Disney lovers. The media giant is shutting down its Disney movie online service.

The website just didn't catch on with users.

Consumers were allowed to buy or rent digital versions of Disney and Pixar films and watch the movies on their computers, but there were limitations.

Movies could be viewed through a web browser, but not downloaded for playback.

The service will close down December 31.
