Black Friday Sales Down This Year, Online Sales Up

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Despite all the hype leading up to Black Friday, shopping was actually down this year.

Retail analysts say consumers spent over 11 billion dollars on Black Friday.

That figure is down 1.8 percent from last year.

But that doesn't necessarily mean shoppers are spending less.

It's possible those missing dollars were spent a day earlier because some retailers opened their doors Thanksgiving day.

Meantime, IBM says online shoppers aren't waiting for Cyber Monday.

Online sales were up more than 21 percent on Black Friday.
