Senators Not Happy After Meeting With UN Ambassador Rice About Benghazi

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Three Senators are not happy following a closed door meeting with UN Ambassador Susan Rice this morning.

Rice sat down for talks with Republican Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte.

The three have been sharply critical of Rice's initial comments regarding the September 11 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.

In the days following the incident, Rice characterized the attack as a protest that escalated into violence, rather than a pre-meditated terrorist attack.

Some Republicans have accused her of giving false information about what happened.

Graham said, "So, my belief is not only is the information bad and I'm more convinced than ever that it was bad, it was unjustified to give the scenario presented by Ambassador Rice and President Obama three weeks before an election."

Some Democrats say Rice was just relaying the information she was given.

Rice is reportedly on the list of possible replacements for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is resigning.

Senators McCain, Graham and Ayotte have vowed to block Rice's nomination if it comes to that.
